California Transparency In Supply Chains Act
Last Updated:12/1/2024
At LAWKI, we are deeply committed to promoting ethical business practices and ensuring that our operations support human dignity and respect. In line with the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2012 (the "Act"), this statement provides insight into our efforts to combat slavery and human trafficking within our supply chains.
The Act’s purpose is to empower consumers by providing visibility into corporate supply chain practices, allowing informed decisions that support ethical and responsible sourcing.
1. Commitment to Fair Labor Practices
LAWKI. is unwavering in its commitment to fair labor practices. We require all direct suppliers to adhere to our Vendor Code of Conduct ("Code"), which strictly prohibits forced labor, slavery, and human trafficking. By accepting any purchase order from LAWKI, our suppliers certify their compliance with these ethical standards.
2. Communication and Accountability
To ensure ethical sourcing throughout our supply chain, we enforce clear communication and accountability measures:
Supplier Awareness: All direct suppliers are notified of our anti-slavery and anti-trafficking policy, as outlined in our Vendor Code of Conduct.
Internal Accountability: All employees and supply chain personnel are expected to uphold LAWKI’s ethical standards. Any failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, including termination of employment or termination of business relationships.
Reporting Mechanisms: We maintain a confidential Compliance Hotline to enable employees, suppliers, and partners to report any suspected violations of our Code of Conduct or applicable laws.
3. Monitoring and Inspections
While LAWKI does not currently conduct third-party unannounced audits of all suppliers, we take the following steps to enhance oversight:
Scheduled Facility Visits: As part of our scheduled visits to our brand-owned production sites, unannounced agenda items addressing human rights compliance, including the detection and prevention of human trafficking, are incorporated.
Ongoing Monitoring: We continue to evaluate potential partnerships with third-party audit services to expand our inspection program in the future.
4. Training and Education
Although we do not currently offer specialized training on slavery and human trafficking, all employees involved in supply chain operations are required to:
Read and adhere to our Code of Conduct, which explicitly prohibits slavery, forced labor, and trafficking.
Maintain vigilance and report any suspicious activity within our supply chain.
We are continuously exploring ways to provide our team with enhanced training tools to further strengthen their ability to detect and address human rights violations.
5. Policy Impact and Community Engagement
LAWKI is committed to fostering positive change by promoting ethical sourcing and supporting community well-being:
We strive to partner with suppliers who uphold our values and contribute to improving working conditions in their communities.
We welcome consumer feedback and are open to partnerships that advance labor rights within the fashion industry.
